Hello Colorado!

Hello Colorado!

Like many of you reading this, I am also a Colorado transplant! I moved to Denver four years ago from sunny San Diego and yes, I traded the beach for the mountains and everything else Colorado has to offer, which is a whole lot. When I first got here, I didn’t know where to start, so I’d like to share a few of my favorite things to do and places to visit here in Centennial State:

  • Breckenridge, CO – this is the very first, and favorite, mountain town I visited. It’s about an hour and half from Denver and has many activities to offer year-round. From snowboarding to paddle boarding, hiking, and breweries to visit you will never get bored. Breck, as the locals call it, is home to Isak Heartstone the 25-foot-tall troll, it’s a must see!

  • Red Rocks Amphitheater – if you love live music, Red Rocks Amphitheater is a must! It’s in my top five favorite music venues to go to. The view from the stands is unlike any other, you are surrounded by beautiful, enormous red rocks with a view of the city lights in the background. Also, be sure to wear comfortable shoes and be ready to hike up and down those stairs.
  • Beer, beer, beer! – The list of breweries in Denver is endless and most allow your friendly dogs! Some of my go-to are: Oasis Brewery, Cerveceria Colorado, Denver Beer Co., Briar common, Little Machine, Raices and of course Great Divide Brewing Company.
  • Mayflower & Mohawk Lakes – just like breweries, there are endless hikes to trek in Colorado. One of my favorites being the Mayflower & Mohawk Lakes hike located in Breckenridge. This 8-mile round trip hike is considered moderate to hard; it has beautiful views a long the way with a sight to see at the end that will take your breath away, figuratively, and literally. After the hike down, be sure to stop at Broken Compass Brewing for a refreshing and well-deserved beer.

  • Sports central – love sports? Colorado has a sport for you! From the Denver Broncos to the Colorado Rockies and Avalanche you will have plenty of sports entertainment. Be sure to catch a game at both the Broncos and Rockies stadiums, win or lose you are sure to have a great time!

So, are you ready to explore Colorado? No matter where your “to do list” takes you, you will not be disappointed. Whether it be spring or winter you will always have something fun to do.
